Do you have midlife growing pains?
It's the tension between your need for more from yourself and your life and the fear that it's too late or that you want too much. And all the cheerleaders telling you that midlife is this great opportunity ignore the fact that growing pains don't feel good.
Midlife is your opportunity to grow and flourish, and the rest of your life can be the best of your life. But let's be honest, getting there may not be a joyride, and if you're struggling, there's nothing wrong with you.
If you're having "midlife growing pains", you need support and guidance from someone who's traveled your journey; someone who can offer you a proven formula for flourishing.
And you are in the right place!
I'm Michelle. I'm a Psychologist and obviously, a middle-aged woman. A few years ago, a frustrated and desperate inner voice started bugging me. It was saying, "You're still waiting to be who you're gonna be when you grow up - and you're getting old!"
I'd been "working on myself" for years already, and had accomplished quite a lot in my career and my life, but this was different. Something was demanding to be expressed in a way I hadn't experienced before - like an ache from within - and I couldn't suppress it.
The work I'd done in the past was no longer working for me because I wasn't the woman I used to be. I discovered that the needs and demands of women in midlife call for an updated approach to happiness and fulfillment. So I created The Flourishing Formula™, a Positive Psychology based coaching and mentoring program for women who want to finally flourish, and are aware of the clock!
The Flourishing Formula™ helped me find myself, recreate myself and rediscover happiness and purpose. Now I want to help you do the same.
Flourishing isn't just flowery talk, because when we don't flourish, we wither, and our unfulfilled needs become our afflictions.
I've seen the damage that decades of self-neglect can cause for women. When we're young, we usually don't notice the problem - we're too busy being busy, or being "good". It seems normal. But as we get older, it begins to take a toll - on our health, happiness, relationships, ability to perform at our best and enjoy our lives, and our sense of authenticity, purpose, and meaning.
I told you my story. What's yours?
Are your kids grown, and you don't feel needed anymore? Or is your career winding down, and you don't feel valued anymore? Maybe work feels meaningless, and you can't stand it anymore?
Are you overwhelmed or depleted from running yourself ragged? Or have you developed physical symptoms related to years of ignoring your body's needs?
Do you feel small and invisible, still searching for your true identity? Or do you feel like with the loss of youth, you've lost your identity?
Do you mourn the loss of your youthful appearance, not recognizing yourself in the mirror? Or do you just want to feel comfortable in your own skin?
Are you angry, jealous, or resentful of women who seem like they have it all while you struggle? And do you top it off by judging yourself for having those feelings?
Are you carrying unfinished business from the past that you feel you should have handled by now? Are you regretting the "path not taken"? Or are you just going through the motions - not necessarily suffering, but not fully living?
Did you think you had it all figured out, only to discover that your life is off track and you're in need of a course correction? Or have you decided that it's FINALLY your time to put yourself first, to take priority in your own life, but you don't know how? You feel like you've lost yourself and don't know who you are or what you want!
However this is showing up for you, I promise, you're not alone. These are our growing pains.
I know you want more from yourself and your life. And I also know you may fear that it's too late for you.
But it's not too late!

“Oh my God, what if you wake up some day, and you're 65, or 75, and you never got your memoir or novel written, or you didn't go swimming in those warm pools and oceans all those years because your thighs were jiggly and you had a nice big comfortable tummy; or you were just so strung out on perfectionism and people-pleasing that you forgot to have a big juicy creative life, of imagination and radical silliness and staring off into space like when you were a kid? It's going to break your heart. Don't let this happen.” ―
* Midlife is as you define it. If you are under 50 or don't identify as female and would like to experience a Positive Psychology based approach to flourishing and thriving, I welcome you!
